Our new Pastor of Small Groups, Ryan Doughty, started working last week and has a message that he’d like to share with you. Please take a moment to watch the following video.
If you’d like to contact Pastor Ryan, feel free to email email@example.com or call Lighthouse at (253) 848-2028.
Are you curious about Pastor Tony’s transition out of Lighthouse and the future of Groups Ministry at Lighthouse? Check out this video for answers to your questions.
Please join Lighthouse staff at any of the church services this weekend to pray for Tony, say goodbye and wish him and his family well. There will be a gathering in the coffee shop (in the new building) after each service where you can talk to him and enjoy a hot or iced coffee beverage.
Pastor Tony’s last day at Lighthouse is Tuesday, June 13.
Dear Home Group Leaders,
As this year comes to an end, you are being led to the still waters of summer where you will find a season of rest. As you bring your group to a break for the summer, think about ending with a BBQ, potluck, or a group outing (think bowling or baseball).
If your group would like to stay connected throughout the summer, participate in a Fun Group together such as Bridge, Cribbage, Outdoor Games, Golfing or Hiking.
Another option is The Silent Wild. There will be two opportunities to participate this summer on Saturday, July 30th and Monday, August 22. The link to register for one (or both!) will be posted in a couple of weeks, so please share it with your home groups and sign up together.
Lastly, as you prepare for the summer break, please take note of which group members will be returning in the Fall, how many openings you’ll have for new members, and if the meeting location/day/frequency/time will change or remain the same. Sarah Biggerstaff will be reaching out to you in the next few weeks to collect this information in order to better prepare for the annual Group Connect event in September.
Peace be with you and remember to wear sunscreen
Hi Groupies! A friend of mine sent this article to me and I thought it was worth sharing with you. Take a few minutes to read the text:

This month we’ll continue through the Gospel of Matthew. Here are some questions that you can use during your home group meetings to discuss the weekend sermons. The questions are also available in the Documents section of the blog. Please leave any questions or comments you have below.
Lighthouse Member Jay Milsten recently presented a unique opportunity to put our faith in action and practice Lighthouse’s value of Community Transformation. We thought it was worth passing on. Check it out.
Last year, his men’s bible study group committed to sending one local high school student to YoungLife’s Malibu Club summer camp. Each week they would add $5 to a jar until it reached $500. The cost for a student to attend camp is around $750, so the student must pitch in some money if he/she really wants to go. After camp, the YoungLife Leader that accompanied the local group of campers visited the men’s bible study group to let them know the effect that camp had on the kid they helped support. They never learned the name of the student they supported, but it didn’t matter, they knew they had made a difference in the life of one local youth and that was enough.
Jay’s hope this year is to get 30 groups to commit to sponsoring 30 local kids to attend the YoungLife camp. If you don’t know about Club Malibu, check out this video to catch a glimpse of what kids experience during what many say is the “best week of their life.” https://vimeo.com/36953209
There is no pressure to join Jay in his effort. But if it sounds like something you might be interested in, give Jay Milsten a call. He is open to visiting groups to explain the process and get you started. Call him at (253) 230-5433 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
About YoungLife and Malibu Club
YoungLife believes in the power of presence. Kids’ lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God’s love with them. Because their leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning, and purpose.
This summer camp is a week that changes everything! A memory to last a lifetime created in just seven days of high adventure, laughing, meeting new people, hanging with friends, great food, incredible music and Young Life club with 350 other campers who get the opportunity to consider a relationship with God in the beautiful setting of Malibu Club.
During the next few months, we will be studying the book of Matthew during weekend service in a new series called “Kingdom Come.” The idea behind the graphic is the meeting of Heaven and Earth.
Click on this link to get a copy of the sermon discussion questions for the month of February. The scripture is included for each week. Feel free to hand out the questions with the scripture to your group and study the text together.
If you have any questions you can leave a comment or send an email. The discussion questions are also posted in the Documents section of this website.
We’re continuing on through Galatians this month and you can find the sermon discussion questions by clicking on this link.
There won’t be a sermon the weekend of Dec. 19-20, instead the children’s and student ministries will be presenting their Christmas Program to the congregation.
Christmas Eve services will be held Thursday, December 24 at 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. We hope that you’re able to attend one of the services, and please feel free to bring family and friends!
Hey Group Leaders! I hope you are all amazing today! Over the next year, you will notice that videos, trainings and other content will be linked to this BLOG and facebook (and yes, still email). We are trying to come up with better ways to communicate. Let’s hope this helps!
