A FAITH IN ACTION STORY
Bruce and Lori Strand attend weekend services at Lighthouse, participate in the Harding Home Group and are members of the Christian Motorcyclist Association. Lori has noticed a need in the Christian Motorcycle Association and God has put it on her heart to help. Here’s her story:
Bruce and I volunteer with the Christian Motorcycle Association in organizing bike rallies and sharing the gospel with people we meet. Some of the rallies that we attend are very primitive and bikers only bring what they can fit on their bike. Many bikers, especially women, do not have money or access to personal hygiene items they forgot bring or didn’t have to bring in the first place.
God has laid it on my heart to put together hospitality baskets that I can place in the bathrooms at motorcycle rallies so that men and women can help themselves to what they need. I have been purchasing and collecting items for baskets, but feel it is time to ask for help. As many of you know, Bruce doesn’t work due to a severe stroke that disabled him, and I have a limited income.
During the next three weeks, there will be a box in the Welcome Center where you can drop off personal hygiene items you’d like to donate. Here’s an example of what’s needed (preferably travel size):
- antiperspirant
- men’s & women’s razors
- combs & brushes
- shaving cream
- sunscreen
- lotion
- toothbrushes
- toothpaste
- dental floss
- alcohol-free mouthwash (most motorcycle rallies are AA rallies)
- shampoo & conditioner
- body wash
- nail files
- feminine products
- sample size perfume & cologne
Anything you can give is appreciated, and I’ll gladly accept items not on this list that you think would be helpful. If you have any questions feel free to contact me, Lori Strand, at (253) 381-3102 or email hairbystrand@hotmail.com.
